Mikel Pelzman’s family has lived in Florida since 1961. Born and raised in Melbourne Beach, Mikel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida before graduating from the Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee. While in law school, Mikel interned with the Innocence Project of Florida, helping reverse wrongful convictions throughout the state.
After being admitted to the Florida Bar, Mikel moved to Miami to serve the South Florida area as an attorney in private practice. In 2020, Mikel relocated to Orlando to become an Assistant State Attorney in the 9th Judicial Circuit. As a prosecutor, Mikel tried many misdemeanor and felony cases to jury verdict while maintaining his core values as a passionate advocate for reform in the criminal justice system.
Mikel returned to the Space Coast in 2021 to become an Assistant Public Defender in the 18th Judicial Circuit of Florida. As a former prosecutor and public defender, Mikel brings a diverse range of experience to every case that he handles.
Outside of the courtroom, Mikel is an avid waterman and enjoys cheering for his beloved Florida State Seminoles football team!
